Described by director Max Reinhart as ‘the most beautiful woman in Europe’, Hedy Lamarr was the Austrian-American Jewess whose wartime films made her one of the most popular actresses of her day.
Lamarr was an actress in Vienna when MGM head, Louis B Mayer, discovered her and she went on to star in a number of successful movies, both during and after World War 2.
But if you thought that her talents had stopped there, you’d be wrong. Hedy also helped to develop and patent a communication system for ships that would one day become a key component of Wireless technology – amazing!
