Marianne devoted almost 70 years of her life to WIZO….not many across the globe can claim that!Simply put, Marianne has inspired and mentored countless WIZO members over those years. She was a strong, dignified woman from Holland, whose love of life was legendary. Her hair was always elegantly coifed, she always wore lipstick and pearls, and would often be holding a glass of wine as she surveyed the scene before her.
Despite experiencing many challenges in life, first during the war and then emigrating to Australia with her family, Marianne displayed courage, determination and a positive outlook on life. She inspired her family, her friends and everyone who came in contact with her. Even in her older years Marianne exemplified her motto, “live today.”
Marianne was a passionate WIZO woman who dedicated every birthday since the establishment of the State of Israel to raising funds for WIZO. This was recognised by World WIZO when Marianne attended the Extended General Meeting in Israel at the remarkable age of 98. She was invited to be a member of the World WIZO International Council and was honoured for her longstanding involvement, leadership and support.
The Matriarch of four generations of WIZO women, Marianne passed away at the age of 103, still very involved with WIZO to the end.
