Message from Tami Wassner Rich

tammi wassner rich

I thought I should share the wonderful message I received on Facebook Messenger from Tammi Wassner Rich, which encapsulates the essence of WIZO.

I am extremely proud of her acknowledgment of WIZO Australia’s contribution in Israel.  Thank you again for your support – Am Yisrael Chai.

Best wishes

Michelle, President – WIZO Australia

Hi Michelle, it’s Tami here, I hope this message finds you well, and managing the best we can in these times. I wanted to reach out to you, because I know how hard you are working for Wizo. As you know, I grew up in a family very dedicated to Wizo, my mum working tirelessly for as long as I can remember, for every Wizo event that came around. If my memory serves me correctly, I think I even won the Wizo Child of the Year competition back in the 80’s.

And now it’s 2023. I made Aliya 18 years ago, I call this my Chai year, the year of life. It’s extraordinary how at the age of 47 I am learning about life from the beginning again. Which brings me back to Wizo. An organisation that has always been in my life. Now, during war, like all other organisations, Wizo is working overtime. I went down to my local branch to help the ladies, collecting clothes, sorting them out, and distributing freely to all the displaced Israelis from the south and north. My years in Australia taught me how to support Israel from a distance, we raised money for Wizo for many projects with kids, and now, I am with the other side of Wizo, and I have the privilege of handing a warm jacket to a child who only owns the clothes on his back. I wanted to share this with you, because I wanted you to know how important your work is. Your efforts in Australia do reach our shores, and they are appreciated with so much love.
