Each year we take the opportunity to honour the matriarchs of WIZO and our community by delivering Honey Cakes to them for Rosh Hashana.
For decades these women have supported the women, children and elderly of Israel by being vital members of WIZO’s community.
In the golden years of their lives, the WIZO NSW matriarchs deserve acknowledgement and gratitude for their generosity and tireless contribution to Israel. At Rosh Hashana WIZO, together with the support of our wonderful volunteers and Lewis’ Continental Kosher Kitchen, get to say thank you with our Honey Cake Mitzvah.
Honey Cakes were delivered together with the WIZO Every Woman Magazine 2016 in beautiful cakes boxes. The kindness of the volunteers making the delivery brought many smiles and much joy to the recipients.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered. Many of you gave your children and grandchildren an invaluable gift by opening their eyes to the innate joy of giving.
Volunteers are the most important resource community organisations have. In WIZO, each volunteer is a vital link in a chain of countless other individuals who together make a difference that is often too big to measure.
As Winston Churchill said ‘We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give’.
