The passing of Shimon Peres sadly brings us to the end of an era. He was the last of the founding fathers, a group of leaders who witnessed the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, including David Ben-Gurion, Moshe Dayan, Golda Meir and Ariel Sharon.
At every corner of Israel’s tumultuous history, Shimon Peres was there. Whilst he is a Nobel Peace Prize winner, has held the positions of both Prime Minister and President of Israel and was welcomed like royalty all over the world, there was also a light and humorous side to this iconic man.
Today we would like to pay tribute to this humour and his immense capacity for bringing joy and laughter to people. When Shimon Peres left the presidency, he appeared in a video produced by his granddaughter in which he seeks employment (in jest) for a new job after 70 years in public office.
Watch the video to have a laugh, pay tribute to a great man and see some beautiful Israeli landscape.
